Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko arrested for alleged drug use

Shine Tom Chacko, a Malayalam actor, was arrested by Kochi City North Police officials on Saturday. He was taken to the General Hospital for a medical examination in connection with alleged drug use, according to a statement issued by Kerala police officials.

As per the reports, he was booked under Sections 27 (consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance) and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, PTI reported. According to available information, the charges are considered bailable.

Chacko allegedly fled from a hotel during anti-drug raid

The arrest comes a day after Chacko was summoned by Kochi police for questioning in connection with an incident where he allegedly fled from a hotel during an anti-drug raid.

“A notice was issued since the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Ernakulam North Police Station,” a police officer stated.

On April 16, the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force team conducted a search at a hotel near Kaloor. It was aimed to target an individual involved in a narcotics-related case.

During the operation, officers discovered that Chacko was listed in the hotel register. Upon attempting to access his room on the third floor, he allegedly fled the premises.

A video has emerged, showing the actor fleeing the hotel following the arrival of law enforcement. Preliminary evidence, including CCTV footage, appears to indicate that the individual observed fleeing was Chacko. Notably, no drugs were discovered during the search, resulting in no case being registered in relation to the incident.

Chacko has recently been surrounded by controversy

Chacko has been at the centre of controversy following a complaint filed by actor Vincy Aloshious with the Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Aloshious initially alleged that Chacko engaged in inappropriate behavior on set. He was reportedly under the influence of substances, during the filming of the upcoming movie ‘Soothravakyam.’

However, Aloshious has since indicated a willingness to withdraw the complaint, citing disappointment that Chacko’s name had been publicly disclosed.
