Dalit Woman Assaulted and Forced to Drink Urine in Patna; 6 Accused Booked Under SC/ST Act

Patna, Bihar: A shocking case of harassment and physical assault against a Dalit woman has come to light in the capital city of Patna. The victim alleges that she was brutally beaten, forcibly stripped of her clothes, and made to drink urine. She sustained severe head injuries and is currently hospitalized. The incident has led to the registration of a case under the SC/ST Act against six accused, although no arrests have been made so far. The incident took place in a village under the Khushrupur police station jurisdiction in Patna city.

According to the police, the victim had borrowed a loan of ₹9,000 from a man named Pramod Singh. The dispute arose when she failed to pay ₹1,500 in interest. In her complaint, the victim narrated that on the morning of September 23rd, Pramod had threatened her, saying he would parade her naked in the village. Later that night, at around 10 PM, Pramod, along with his son Anshu and four others, allegedly abducted the woman under the pretext of taking her to his house.

Once at Pramod’s residence, the woman claims she was stripped, mercilessly beaten, and, under Pramod’s instructions, was forced to drink urine. She managed to escape and reached her home, where she then filed a police complaint against her assailants.

The police have taken swift action by registering a case against the accused under the relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. However, as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The victim’s medical condition is being closely monitored at the hospital.

The incident has sparked outrage in the region, with various Dalit and women’s rights organizations demanding swift justice for the victim. Protests and demonstrations are being organized to condemn the heinous act and demand the immediate arrest of the accused.

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter and are expected to make arrests soon. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly Dalit women, and highlights the pressing need for stronger measures to combat such atrocities.
