Kremlin says Ukraine tried to assassinate Putin with drones: ‘planned terrorist act’

Today, Russia claimed that Ukraine had attempted to assassinate President Vladimir Putin. It said that it had shot down two drones fired from Ukraine. “The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures wherever and whenever it sees fit,” it warned.
The purported incident was deemed by the Kremlin to be “a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation.”

The Kremlin said in a statement that “two unmanned vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin… the devices were put out of action.”

According to the report, neither Putin nor the Kremlin structure sustained any tangible harm.

Since Moscow began what it refers to as its “special military operation” in Ukraine, drone and other strikes have targeted Russian energy, logistical, and military installations. As it resists what it sees as a Russian war of conquest, Kyiv has not officially claimed responsibility for such attacks but has frequently made cryptic or sarcastic remarks welcoming them.
